Review of Scent of a woman(1992)

Usually I prefer Hollywood movies only for action thrillers. But nowadays, I am so selective while watching other language movies. I started to search regarding the ratings given to the particular movies before watching them. In the same way, I went through IMDB which gave (7.7/10) for this particular movie(Scent of a Woman). In that way, I deviated from action thrillers to high rated Hollywood flicks.

This story of Charlie and Frank is too touching and welldirected. It is a simple movie in the sense we need not watch the movie from theatres. Because it is not based on visual and sound effects. The movie is narrated at its best and both the characters were handled best by the actors. I liked the hoo-ahhh by the colonel.
Movie starts with a cool music. Charlie is a college student and came with Frank(who was a retired army officer and blind) as his assistant as a weekend job. Frank moves to New York for a tour and Charlie need to follow him all the way. The quotes by Frank(Al Pacino) and his acting are the highlight of the film. He enjoys his life well at New York and finally decides to suicide. But Charlie interrupts his attempt and returns with him.

In the climax part, Charlie was interrogated by the college committee for an old issue regarding some students making fun of Head Master. Though Charlie was seen the culprits, he did not comment anything about them. The Head Master warns him to expel out of the institution. At the same time, Colonel enters and gives a well speech about the character of Charlie. This is one of the best  scenes of this movie which should be experienced by watching it.

At the end, all the students claps for his wordings and Committee decides to allow Charlie to continue his study in the same institution.
At the climax section, Frank returns to his house and walks into it happily with children whom he hated before.
But I am dissappointed with the title given which may mislead the concept regarding the movie.
Anyhow, Don’t miss such movies which highlights the human relations and values.
